But where would the flyboys pose?

I wonder if 39 Sqn will be playing with this new toy?

i take it you are not commenting from Ireland Lordinajamjar?

besides - they still have over 1,100 other RAF aircraft to keep them busy.

Did you count Air Cadet gliders in that figure?

Are you sure it isn't a gazillion?

Wait till the Strategic Defence Review comes out in the next few months. There'll be a lot less RAF planes after that.

For the time being. Cameron's budget cuts are already going far beyond pre election expectations.

Fair enough. Do you think there'll be a scaling back, downsizing or mothballing of assets over the life of the current parliament?

it's an SDR so things tend to get smaller not bigger and given the current financial climate you can be sure lots will go but hopefully we will get a more efficient and focussed air force out of it.

that's not news sofa - that article is almost 2 years old.

US troops have often called in British fast air aswell as British troops often calling in American fast air.

obviously the US have more than the British, but likewise the British have considerably more than other nations. at least most of our pilots are engaged in combat sorties in one way or another at some stage of their career and constantly go on exchanges with other air forces.

this guy, the RAF's Wing Commander Green has a decent future ahead of himself - so long as it all goes well for him and he survives:

The attempt to beat the land speed record by an RAF officer is a step closer with the design team unveiling a life size model of the rocket-powered car which will be used in the attempt.

Backed by the RAF, Wing Commander Andy Green will pilot the supersonic Bloodhound when it makes its historic record-breaking bid in 2012.

                            Read more here:...

good to see the RAF supporting him in his quest.

                            good luck!
