  • Naval Involvement at Shannon.

The arrival of L.E. Roisin to the Shannon estuary now means all elements of the DF are involved in security at Shannon airport.

Roisin will be based in the Shannon estuary, using her state of the art surveillance equipment and sensors to guard the estuary approaches to the airport.
    According to the Evening Echo..
The Air Corps and the Navy(sic) have joined the security blitz to protect US planes refuelling at Shannon Airport
The Air Corps has dispatched one of its Allouette Helicopters from Baldonnel to be based at the airport and carry out aerial surveillance and specific tasks at the request of the Gardai.
In addition, the Naval Service has deployed a ship in the Shannon estuary as part of the massive security operation.
The LE Roisin is being stationed in the estuary under the Navy's remit for marine defence.
The ship was diverted from normal fishery protection tasks this week.
It has a sophisticated surveillance and monitoring equipment and covers the seaward approach to the airport.

It is unknown how long the surveillance will continue.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.
