  • Safehaven Military boat : 'Barracuda' high speed low RCS Interceptor

    http://www.safehavenmarine.com/2014%...ase%20page.htm

    ‘Barracuda’ is a high speed Interceptor for military and law enforcement roles. Utilizing ‘stealth’ shape technologies together with specialized construction and outfitting, the vessel has been designed to produce a minimal RCS (radar cross section) allowing it to operate with a high degree of invisibility to an adversary’s radar. A range of different weapons are concealed below deck and raised up through a hatch when required. The design features an all new deep V high speed hull, incorporating a wave piercing bow that will allow for speeds of 30-40kts+. The innovative 11-13m hull will also form the basis for new pilot / S.A.R. models. This new design sees the introduction of multiple new technologies including the extensive use of carbon fibre and cored composites in its construction to minimize weight, maximizing speed and economy.

    "No, sir. He's a sergeant, and they don't deserve no respect at all, sir. I should know. They're cunning and artful, if they're any good. I wouldn't mind if he was an officer, sir. But sergeants are clever."

      There's been similar investment/developments already, for example the USN wants something like this to prevent USS Cole type attacks against the ships that are based in the Gulf.

              Looks sexy. Any role for it in Irish waters?
              'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
              'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
              Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
              He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

                how stealthy is it in reality?
                secondly I doubt theres a big role for ireland, unless as some form of small armed security around the naval base and cork harbor in general if needed - or Army Ranger Wing maybe for maritime insertion?
                cant see it being much use to ireland without anti ship missiles of some sort - as a protector against foreign naval vessels!
                Still good to see someone trying to get into the market, im sure foreign militaries have defined roles for this type of craft.

                  Its Gucci and all but will any foreign Mil's buy it? Our crusty politicans wouldn't make it possible for them to test it with an actual RWS. Add to this safe haven aren't a big company with a network of middlemen who'll grease palms to get sales and doubt enterprise Ireland will be telling foreign governments about it on paddy's day around the world.

                    I would imagine that such a small craft doesn't have a huge RCS anyway

                          It is a demonstrator model. They aren't going to be looking to sell that thing but it demonstrates to the world that they have the ability to develop mil type vessels for brown water navies.

                            Four of them for inshore patrols perhaps?
                            What are you cackling at, fatty? Too much pie, that's your problem.
