      10(4+4+1+1) in total.

On a side note..the maritime festival in Waterford, which usually attracted foreign Naval visits, has been cancelled, due to the fact that most of the regulars are tied up in the Gulf etc..

No Doubt No.3 coy ASM will be sad to hear of this. It was usually a chance for them to stretch their sea legs so to speak..

Somebody mentioned, a while back, that an Icelandic Coast Guard patrol ship was due a visit.

Did it happen (or is it due at a future date) ?

And they wistfully think "if we'd only come here 50 odd years ago, how things would be different......"

Just been in to see "The Germans". Tied up on the north Jetties mostly, with Tegnersee on the North Custom House Quay in the Company of Aoife, who looks quite well among them. Aoife is open from 2pm(1400) tomorrow, and I can only assume there are similar arrangements for the German vessels.

However I spoke with a member of Aoife's crew who was on duty at the time, and he mentioned that many people assumed they were one of the German ships...
So he is telling them all that the German ships have an A painted on the sides while all irish ships have a P...What are they teaching them in Haulbowline these days? :(

Got a great tour of Aoife yesterday by one of the most entertaining Naval person I have ever seen. Corkman of course,by the name of Driscoll, was on the trip to the Far east.
Gave an entertaining, informative and even patriotic tour of the Ship. For a mech his knowledge of Naval ops was excellent, and he gave the tour while off duty, cos there was nobody else about.
Didnt get aboard the germans myself, but there was nothing to see that you couldnt see from the Quayside. One type armed with a 76mm,4 exocet launchers, and RAM,and the other armed with 2 76mm,4 exocet, and torpedo tubes. The tanker was not that pictured above, but a smaller type, about the same length as Aoife. The support ship Main, pictured above, even included a VW Transporter Pickup. Long time since a van with Bundeswehr on the side drove around Cork.
All vessels flew their ensigns at half mast as a mark of respect to the German troops Killed in Afghanistan.
