You could try a shop called "Yesteryear" on North Frederick Street (between Parnell Square and Dorset Street). They sell militaria, including Irish stuff. I think it's still there.

In Irish service it was called the Vickers Helmet. Saw one in Clonmel two years ago priced €200.

I have the misfortune of knowing where probably the world's largest remaining stock (ie hundreds) of these is, but can't get at them. :(

If it was expertly restored why is it blue?

Maybe the individual thought it was still around with the advent of UN service

Maybe its the photo, but in service they were painted light blue/grey(brighter than naval grey). The one i have seen is similar colour, but not quite as blue.
