    Kind of says the following...

Guest nation Ireland according to plan arrived in the naval base Kiel Kiel, 19.06.2006, Joern Kipping (editorship navy). Punctually at 9:00 o'clock the Irish corvette set L.E. EMER on Monday at the Tirpitzmole in the naval base Kiel. Putting on maneuver of the Irish corvette ELMER in the naval base Kiel on the occasion of the Kieler week 2006. (source © 2006 German Federal Armed Forces Ann Kathrin Fischer)Die L.E. EMER under commander lieutenant commander O. Mullowney is the 20. Naval unit, which visits the Kieler in this year week. Thus all ten guest nations are met in the naval base. In radiating sunshine and with a radiating smile on the faces the Irish naval soldiers fastened sail school ship GORCH FOCK directly behind the servicer of group of employments Frankfurt and vis à vis to the Tirpitzmole. Like also the other units the L.E. EMER was called in music welcome by the naval music corps Ostee.

        Good ole babelfish...

First journey abroad after Kiel, last journey after Kiel Kiel, 22.06.2006, Eckhard Herbert Arndt (editorship navy).
The life writes most beautiful stories. Also for ships. The Irish corvette EMER, 1978 in service posed, led its first journey abroad in the same year after Kiel. Later the circle closes scarcely 30 years: The earned naval ship, which was to be deactivated shortly, took course on Kiel as last large journey. Life circle closed.

The corvette EMER came as last foreign naval unit to the Kieler week. On Saturday it takes again on the home port Cork
(source to course © 2006 German Federal Armed Forces/Eckhard Herbert Arndt)"Die entire crew have itself been pleased on it, to be familiar became powerful that we would drive lieutenant Commander Owen Mullowney, commander of the EMER to the Kieler week", report since yearly beginning. That approximately 65 m for a long time, scarcely 1,000 t displacing ship is the oldest unit of the small, but purifies Irish navy (Naval service), which covers about 1,000 men and women. National defense armed forces of the Greens island count approximately 10,000 heads. With the Air Force the navy the smallest armed service is common. Originally of the type EMER four sister ships were built. A unit was already deactivated, while the AOIFFE and the AISLING are still in the active fleet service. By the way: All ship names of the Irish navy are taken to the rich mythology.

        -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keel Kiel. Lieutenant Commander Owen Mullowney and its approximately 50 men strong crew looked forward very much to the attendance of the Kieler week (source © 2006 German Federal Armed Forces/Eckhard Herbert Arndt)
Lieutenant Commander Mullowney: "planning plans that the three corvettes are deactivated in foreseeable time and replaced by new units." To the Irish navy altogether eight ships belong. Their task spectrum differs clearly from that the German navy. Mullowney: "90 per cent of our assignment we dedicate to the monitoring of the 200 nautical mile zone, i.e. above all fishery protection, prevention drug and of the smuggling of arms and other sovereign tasks." The naval units come in the year on approximately 216 sea-days. "that is already a quantity", adds Mullowney. And the operational area, Irish sea and the North Atlantic, are everything but comfortably. The ships are characterised by their good sea-behavior. For self-defense, in addition, for the penetration of their sovereign tasks all units are equipped with light automatic cannons and machine guns. Meanwhile the Irish navy in the meantime also is about to show flag on other weltmeeren. Thus took 2002, the corvette NIAMH, the most modern ship of the fleet, for the first time in the history of comparatively young Irish naval forces course on ports in the Far East.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Instruction on board. Also during the Kieler week continues the learning and on-board enterprise. Cadets are instructed by one of the officers (source © 2006 German Federal Armed Forces/Eckhard Herbert Arndt)
Mullowney, which is since yearly beginning a commander of the corvette, knows Kiel and the Kieler week already. And it turns out thereby in swarms: "a mad, unique atmosphere prevails here. We enjoy our attendance from full courses. For me it is already the second attendance here." A large success was the on-board receipt in the context of the Kieler week, on which naturally are not missing was allowed: the Irish national beverage Guinness. On coming Saturday, 25 June, is again back to Ireland. The home port Cork one after well three days again to reach, expects Mullowney. In order to in addition-add: "I think that the Irish navy Kiel and the Kieler will remain connected week in special way." Thus the rumor keeps itself persistent in the fleet that the Republic of Ireland wants to be represented 2007 even with two ships on the Kieler week. The fleet boss worked already intensively on this plan. One may be thus strained.

To summarise, this is Emer's final Foreign trip. Kind of a sad story really.

That looks suspiciously like a munster rugby flag flying from the starboard inner halyard!

I can confirm(by use of eyesight) that it is indeed the Flag of munster rugby. Well if eithne can fly the mayo flag from the topmast why the hell not?
