2 Cav got their new bikes yesterday, was having a peek at them today and they look quite well.
I'll try get pics tomorrow and will put them up.
Stay out of the cage. Groundpounders have been known to be seen going in and never coming out...
Any more about them photos HA?
I'm on a course at the moment so I've been fairly busy.
I'm back in the Unit for 2 days though so I should be able to slide up towards the bike sheds and grab a pic or 2.
Sound man.
Any sign yet?
the new green ones are much better looking.
Presidential escortQuote:
Green what? Off road? MP? Presidential escort?
The new ones are gloss green. the st patricks blue that was on the old deauvilles has been replaced.
Photos would be nice.....
yes pictures ...
Anyone know what happens to the ex army and garda motorcycles when they are replaced?
"ex" bikes are auctioned after public notices in differing media sources
..you can usually get these items for a song like the ex-Cav Deauvilles, I wouldnt fancy the Garda Bikes though, far higher milage and some do be in less than graceful states..
..the new Deauvilles are indeed green but i heard they were delivered in the wrong colour and where being returned or sent off for respray??
Thanks Paddy.
I quite fancy a deuville me!!!
The XS 400 and XS500 were all sold for scrap and chopped up a couple of years ago none were ever sold.
Mate of mine in the Traffic Corps used to use one. He loved it. Be nice to have one for myself if the Amb service ever roll them out across the country like they were supposed to years ago!
Any idea what kind of shillings a 5 or 6 year old one would set you back these days??
The Army ones should be selling for about 2500.
You'd pick up a decent one on the civvy market for not less than 6k. People just don't part with them until they are well past it.
Much lighter to drive than you would expect from a 650cc tourer. Feels more like a 250, but a fantastic all rounder.
The Garda ones, when they are sold, are knackered. Most have serious subframe damage, due to the lollipop and tail strobes.
I deff saw a HSE deauville photod in Ireland somewhere.
