  • You'd almost think there had been a giant exercise on a few miles up the coast.

      Or a Russian fleet just a few miles south of it...
      'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
      'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
      Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
      He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

          • Just heads up guys. Heard FRENCH NAVY are sending FREMM FS Provence to Dublin on weekend 14th 15th January at Alexandria Basin , North Dock. If you wish to take the opportunity to visit, CONTACT ----presse@ambafrance-ie.org. I am overseas at the moment but having been on her sister ship Aquitaine this is an amazing opportunity.

                • Has to be my first time seeing a SIGINT/ELINT ship on a courtesy visit.
                  For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

                        They're well prepared for Cobh.

                        • One can never be prepared for Cobh.

                          This visit was part of the centenary celebrations of the first US Naval base in Cobh. In 1917 a number of units were stationed in County Cork following the US entry into the 1st World War. Earlier in the week crew from the ship visited the Former Naval HQ in the town, now part of a Nuns Retirement home, but still commanding an excellent view of the harbour.

                              Yep, the Cobh Garda arrested 1/2 last night and from what I've heard they've already been returned to the US.
