Could nearly be on the Irish register by now. I first remember these visiting Waterford in 1986!
Time for another break I think......

Yup. You could search for "Eridan" on this thread alone and it would probably be the most frequent visitor after Cassiopee..

The Dutch will be selling some of their Tripartite minehunters, as part of €1 billion in defence cuts. If only we had a few quid, there's bargains to be had.....

Not really. They are packed to the hilt with minesweeping gear that would rarely, if ever, be used. Better off leaving them to some emerging EU nation with sheltered waters.

Worse than the Peacocks in terms of conditions and operablity, waste of money unless you are going into the mine warfare business on a serious scale.

Haslf the world is tied up in the gulf and the rest don't have the money to deploy on courtesey calls.

The UKRN and French Navy are so strapped for cash they only take part in the more important of exercises.

Given a Peacock burns a ton of fuel per hour...and shes quite small, imagine sending a frigate from some where on a jolly and consider the fuel costs alone.

I'd say the Foreign visits thing has peaked.

Note she carries not one but two Lynx helicopters.

Not due in Cork until the 19th.
Safely berthed already.. That'll cost em.
Very unusual track. Something seems to have happened south of Dungarvan.

Van Amstel and Leopold are both Karel Doorman type frigates, returning from Exercise Joint Warrior in Scotland.

Finnish Minelayer Hameenmaa is due in Cork on 12th May.

Photo of its sister ship, Uusimaa

Not unlike Pohjanmaa in role and armament.

Probably Ice rated, given its normal AO. Bow design pushes weight of ship on to ice to break it.

Yeah, not the first time Port of cork got their dates mixed up. See Van Amstel.
