  • Vikings (not 2 Bn)

I' ve seen a new vehicle on trial in the DFTC area, twice in fact.
Am guessing it's being aimed at the overseas units

First time was when they ( x 3) were being delivered on the back of a civvy load loader
    outside Newbridge.

Second time I saw them was being driven outside Kilcullen on the
road, with L plates up, on Friday just gone

Basically it's a tracked, box like vehicle, something like the vehicles you see being
    used in Arctic environments.

    Something like this.....

In all honesty, I didn't really get a good look at it, but yeah, it looks
      something like that alright...

It might be the Bronco from Singapore, which Timoney have had an input into designing. The british have found that the viking/BVS-1o is not up to service in Afghanistan, and are about to order a replacement.

Timoney developed the power pack & drive train.

              The Vehicle in question

              Theirs not to make reply,
              Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
              Into the valley of Death
              Rode the six hundred.

BAE are making a beefed up viking for that requirement, I doubt the brits will buy from Singapore if they can buy British.

The idea possibly brought about after seeing the capabilities of the Dutch Vikings in Chad. The idea unlikely to get any further thanks to the two Brians.

Could be keeping a few for training drivers here, for NBG interoperability etc?

no its the girraffe... on a viking like chassis
                        But there's no danger
                        It's a professional career
                        Though it could be arranged
With just a word in Mr. Churchill's ear
If you're out of luck you're out of work
We could send you to johannesburg.

Is the Giraffe still mounted on an ancient MAN 6x6?
