Out of curiosity, whilst we're on the subject of endurance, what is kind of weight typically carried for a soldier carrying a CEMO loadout?

Someone has told me the weight of CEMO for Part 3 of the ITs but I can't remember it, but expect to carry more when actually on the ground.

It depends on what you carry & how long you are out for.

Now go back to your tea, biscuits and slippers....

I try and get out about 5 days a week

I have a circuit I run approx 5 to 6 miles I never time myself sometimes I am fast sometimes I am slow

I think its whats on the IPOD

I have become addicted to POD Cast lectures on every subject going

                when I finish I do

                15 X Press Ups
                15 X Sit Ups
                15 X Back Extensions

                I then do 12 X P Up
                12 X S Ups
                12 X B Extns

I drop 2 every time until I am finished and bolloxed

I run to keep off the ever present belly and because it allows me time on my own which I enjoy

most of the shite I post on here is the product of a run

I think its symobilc that FUN and RUN rhyme

and in fact so do once a month and smelly .....

Did 5k last night in around 24mins. Then took Hedges advice and went into sit ups and press ups. Proud of that time though because there was a serious hill in the middle of the run(steep side of elm park who know clonmel).
Think i did something to my calf though going to have to see how it is later.

                      Thursday - 19 February 2009

                      Run
                      Distance: 2.6 miles
                      Time: 21:35 mins
Details: This run wasn't bad, I enjoyed it. Made it my furthest without walking, just under 1.9 miles. Then only walked a very short bit before taking off again, Walked again after another short run, but only because I wanted to finish on a run, Only walked 15m and then took off again. Tomorrow, my goal is only 1 walking bit, max 30m. Happy enough with the run, and I will do some circuits later.

I have developed a pain in my right leg, it is at the shin on the left hand side near the front, where I have very little muscle and 0 fat. It is quite painful just before and after a run, but it is grand usually during the run. Please tell me that is not shin Splints because I am not willing to stop running, because if I do it will take me months to get back into it!!!
I probably am wrong, sorry about that!!!

Please PM me to correct me.

But, not if I state an opinion, only if I state something as truth!!!

I have bad opinions but I stick by them!!!

                      • Shin Splints are a generic term for a load of possible ailments

the front of the calf is very much under used and therefore is liable to tearing or straining

when you sit down whether to eat your dinner take a dump (not at the same time) or even watch telly

place both feet flat on the talamh

and one at a time tap your tabs

by keeping the heel firmly on the deck- slowly raise your toe (one foot at a time) approx 6 inches and hold for a count of 6 (ish)

                        repeat with the other trotter

and do this for about 2 mins 3 - 5 times a day

you could also investigate it further at

shin splints are no excuse to miss a run

remember No running no fun- no running no pedal and cranking

                        for a count of 6-

                              • Went swimming again today with friend and his father. sharks the pair of them.

Was a tough session but worth the pain. Swimming faster than ever now.

                                12 x 25m frontcrawl warm up 75% effort
                                24 x 25m alternating one hand front crawl - no legs - each four length blocks at 75% to 85 % to 2 x 100% efforts
                                4 x 25m sprints 100% effort each one. 30 sec rest
                                8 x 25m swim down

Went for a run this evening with same friend and got my own back.

3 x 1 mile runs - nice easy pace of just under 7 min each with a 50m walk then run the next one.
