My personal opinion is that potentially a lot of people could have lost out did to RDF training being suspended in 1 Bde prior to the process starting
Not in my experience. If anything, it showed that having courses done was detrimental and led to a huge fall off in applications to courses after the assignment process. I saw 2 officers who had each a YOs cse done and one with a JC&S Cse replaced by an officer who hadn't paraded in years (hadn't even filled out an application form). Both were left hanging for months as to where they would end up with both finally ending up as SWA in Bde HQ. One left soon after and the other managed to get transferred out by pulling a lot of strings. He ended up getting the position he had originally applied for because it had not been filled - and it took a lot of un official phone calls to get there.

From where I was standing, it was a complete joke - along the lines of the skills surveys, a form filling exercise that no one cares about.

Don't know how training being suspended would have any impact on the re-assignment.

    • Each brigade took a different approach to the re-assignment and 1 Bde made a complete bollix of it.

      • I cannot stress this enough - the current model of reservist needs to fit to the PDF needs.
Which is fair enough but that same reservist needs protection of his civilian employment and to be adequately paid to compensate him for his absence for same. If the DF were serious about the future employment of Reservists they would have lobbied on behalf of the reserve to enact the required legislation.

There is no point the Reserves lobbying for themselves
Covid 19 is not over ....it's still very real..Hand Hygiene, Social Distancing and Masks.. keep safe

          you’d be surprised

The DF needs specialists.... the ones it has are leaving, the “Specialist Reserve” is a WP project so therefore it is in people’s interests to progress it

It’s a ACOS Level (at least)

Don't know how training being suspended would have any impact on the re-assignment.
1 - how do inform people as to the reassignment process
2 - how do they get the forms and submit them
3 - how do you inform them what their new units are (given that practically all ceased to exist)

Given that people who hadn’t been seen in years were assigned and very active people weren’t (or were posted to different formations that they didn’t apply for) i’ll leave you to decide as to if it had an impact

You're not the only one to see stuff like this. The Tom Clancy-reading tea drinkers struck at other locations, like SNCO appointments where no-one had seen the lucky recipient in years, and wouldn't be in the future (but he happens to be related to someone, the key factor).

                      Wrong.

Unless you have been through the Cadet School you are relying on hearsay and guess work.

Cadets who do not wish to participate are not made to go. Many have availed of leave during the period.
