    The good thing about missing BBC Documentaries is you don't have to wait too long before they appear on one of the satellites, such as "eden" or "blighty".

    One thing struck me after watching the first episode....

    I bet the electrical apprentice is "popular". Surely her overalls could be closed better....

    Four years late and God knows how great the final cost overran the original price, maybe it should have been called "How not to build a submarine".
    It was a very enjoyable and informative programme, most shipyards have a hands off policy until they hand over the vessel and the Owner pays the money, then it's yours to do what you like with it, obviously that would not work with something as complex as this, but I can see lots of little rows between the shipbuilders Engineers and Foremen and the new vessels crew.
    The Electrical apprentice sure beat the women welders in the yards I worked in!

    Women welders would have kept their overalls buttoned up.

    Thanks Brian

    It was a fascinating programme

    I dont like confined spaces - I dont know how them lads work

    like that
    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
    The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity.

    Slightly related.

    Navy submariner accused of leaking military secrets
    A royal Navy submariner has been accused of leaking classified information in breach of the Official Secrets Act. Edward Devenney, 29, was arrested by Metropolitan police officers at a base in Plymouth on suspicion of revealing military secrets that could be “deemed useful to an enemy of the state”. The chief petty officer, originally of County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, was arrested on Tuesday morning and remanded in custody. He is alleged to have communicated the information on January 28. A Met spokesman said a number of searches had been carried out in connection with the arrest which were now complete.

    From what I can gather, ANOTHER classic case of silliness on social networking sites.

    And I have to say, probably, 'The Met' being Norberts (again).

    But if it turns out that some lad from Strabane (NI unemployment hotspot) who got out of that shithole, and made something of himself is an international terrorist, hats off...

    Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but just heard through the grapevine that he has been released and has been seen in Strabane. Coincidentally, the two of us used to drink in the same pub in Plymouth although I never met the guy.

    'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
    'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
    Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
    He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.
