Would imagine he would know the diff between a company and a platoon!
Your first mistake was thinking anyone in the DOD understands anything to do with military basic military structures.

Your second was assuming that any information that is published in the Indo is produced by credible "journalists".

As I said previously, good news for privates and NCOs with the extra vacancies. The proposed plan to add additional platoons removes a significant requirement for additional officers and SNCOs.

If they are adding platoons to existing companies, surely that is just saving a handful of mainly officer and SNCO positions?

Yes Dev, that's pretty much exactly what I said in my previous post.

An additional Coy (rather than extra plns) would not add a significant number of additional Officers and SNCOs..... approx 2 of each

An additional infantry coy would require an additional Coy Comdr, Coy 2i/c and up to three platoon commanders. In addition you are then looking at at least another two SNCOs in the form of a CQ and CS at a minimum.

This might just be the difference in a couple of people to you but there are plenty of officers and SNCOs who, for their own reasons, don't want to go overseas.

Your posts can at times come across as splitting stones purely for the sake of posting. It is quite frustrating.

Yes and those Pln commanders would be going anyway as there is extra platoons going

An extra Coy (rather than additional plns) would mean 2 more officers, 2 SNCOs and some JNCOs and Ptes (probably less than 10 overall). That is not a significant number.

Absolutely agree that some may not want to go

He is already beyond the retirement age for a Maj Gen. He was granted an age derrogation to see out his secondment. He will retire when he comes home.

Lease until another partner nation joins the mission I believe.

Although, I'm also told and alternative to the Finn handled comms system will be in place for the next rotation.

    A lot of changing information!

Some comms equipment has been purchased from the Finns. Their attitude seems to be if you want it you buy it, no leasing
Originally they said all Sisu's were being repatriated home but now we're getting a handful.

All Finnish XA180 have been upgraded to XA185 standard.
As an aside, are our two home based Sisu still in service?
