Just ;listened back to the tape, so for accuracy, he said: " “We have a certain number of posts to take over from the French and we also have areas to take over from the Malaysians."
he was welcomed in with open arms- a lot of us stood up for him and extended the hand of
friendship- now he has quiet literally bitten that hand and shoved it up our arses with his
lies about our service in Lebanon-
RGJ maybe its time you headed back to the lads on ARRSE - we are clearly beneath you and all your
military experince and knowhow.
and best of luck to you and safe return if eventually you get to go to Afghanistan.
Why not leave now with your dignty intact and not everyone detesting the ground you walk on.
I salute you on your way..............
Now back to the thread-
Well done DM and well done to the Star for getting out there (and you know what a fan of the Star I am)
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

If you won't go voluntarily there are other means.
Come on, humour me, what size & type is the Malaysian unit? There are also 2 French units to the North in the same area. Care to tell us about those too? Or are you just concerned with bluffing and telling lies?
grow up FFS.

He died that's all. It was his unlucky night. http://www.salamanderoasis.org/poems...nnis/luck.html
Flamingo is right- I suggest the MODS split this from the UNIFIL thread
and give RGJ a chance to answer those (ME) who accuse him of lying and making stuff up
its only fair.

I was actually hoping to get it all binned, but I'd settle for a separate thread that i didn't have to read.

Of course it goes without saying that mail from home will be one of the greatest morale boosters. How does the Irish Army handle this with respect to the Lebanon? Is there a special postal unit?
I have been told that in the British Army the postmen are actually Sappers. I would have thought that they would be in the Logistics Corps. I wonder if there is anyone on here from the BA who has experience serving with the Sappers as a postman who could let us know how it works.
Reading the newspaper reports, they seem quite well equipped for the role. Is this better than on previous missions, or about the same? And if better equipped, is that just because better kit is available than in the past, or is there a fear that they are at greater risk than in the 70's / 80's?

No doubt the guy you (and I) know is getting folk to sign, sign and sign again out there!
Aye, and when they're done signing he's got many a "wee job" for them
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.
