        It got so bad that serving ranks wifes ran in the election in 1989, National Association of Army Spouses, and fared credibly in a couple of consticuencies

          • It isn't bullshit that when the prison service took over Spike they declared the facilities unfit for human habitation. Yet the army had families living on that island in those conditions. My mother used to say when she thought the facilities for families in Haulbowline were bad she just looked at the conditions on Spike and was thankful.
