Outside of the Curragh we now have two PDF Cavalry units that while trained in the job don't have the equipment to be to their respective brigades what they are supposed to be.

Time to pool all the kit in one location and have one deployable complete squadron, inclusive of CVRTs.Internally they army can no longer justify 4 Cavalry units , for overseas they are never deployed as a complete unit but an oversized squadron could supply the required cavalry elements to an overseas battalion.

Same could be said of all similar sized units.

There is more chance of them having the equipment now with only 2 Cav squadrons

No...Given the squadrons outside the curragh still depend on the AMLs as their primary AFV.

If the AFVs / APCs / CVRTs are to be centralised as is the workshops, so then should the Cavalry.

Nice picture but should really be a picture two lads fighting outside the ratser to fully represent the tradition and history of the unit

"No, they're trying to fly the tank"

There has always been great rivalry between the Big 5 and us Vikings, like who is better at boxing (us), who is the better Soldiers (again us-) who is the more sensitive and huggable Unit (them) and who hates the Cav the most (draw),

We have trained with them, done courses together, overseas together etc etc so we are two close Units, however when ever we told 5Bn lads that when ever we felt depressed or in a bad mood, we would simply have a look at 62Bn on parade or doing "tactics" and when we stop laughing we are not depressed and in a better mood- the 5Bn lads never believed us- at least now when they come over to C B B, they will believe us and get a good laugh.

We say the same in the 65 bn... Difference is that after the reorg we may very well end up worth a 62 on our sleeves and providing your comic relief!

You do realise that the Ratser is gone too?

if my company survives the cuts, we should be allowed to become a seperate unit - we dont want to join the "dundalk hai - maas baa and a paacket a tayytoh" as we cant understand their english never mind their irish and its far too much work for us to drag the 62nd up to our own standards.

101st airborne company maybe? - seeing how were training in a former airbase!

                            It may be gone physcially,

but in our hearts its never gone, we remember it and the people we met there every time we visit a certain 3 letter named clinic off Baggot Street and every monday when we take certain pencillin based tablets
