  • Prince Harry Deployed to Afghanistan

    Link: http://news.sky.com/story/982152/pri...tan-front-line

    Prince Harry is back on the frontline in Afghanistan - four-and-a-half years after his first tour of duty was prematurely cut short when foreign media blew his cover.

    Captain Wales, as the prince is known in the Army, will be filling an entirely different role this time. Now a fully-qualified Apache helicopter pilot, he will be flying in support of coalition forces on the ground.

    In 2008, Harry was a Forward Air Controller, calling in air strikes in support of coalition forces. This time he will be on the other end of the radio conversation and carrying out the air strikes himself.

    His deployment will prompt more questions about the wisdom of sending a royal prince back to war, where he will present the ultimate prize to the enemy should anything go wrong.
    More on the article on the link. A lot of people reckon this is happening to save his reputation over what happened in Las Vegas. Its a bit harsh to say that in my opinion.

    only a fcuktard would believe that the BA would train a young man to operate the UK's most effective CAS platform and then only make him use those skills as a punishment for shagging.

    only RGJ will know how happy this makes me.

      Let's hope him and all the other lads doing a tour come back safely.

      The Apache is a two man job so where will his cp team sit?
      Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
      Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
      The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
      The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
      The best lack all conviction, while the worst
      Are full of passionate intensity.

          Fair play to him...apparently this was in the planning for the last eight months.

          Which might explain LA...blowout before they deploy etc.

          He got top student on his Apache course.

          Shall we start odds now that he comes home with a gong?

            So.... again the news leaks - thought the British Government were able to slap D Notices on media outlets, to keep a lid on stuff like this ?

                decision was taken long ago that keeping it a secret was a non-starter: a) Bastion is a massive base, he'll have met literally thousands of people during the tour, and it would have got out anyway, and b) as an AH gimp he's not as vunerable to assasination as he was as a FAC - he won't be around any ANA/ANP at Bastion, and once he's in the air he's indisinguishable from any other AH crew - and Terry takes a pop at any Heli they can anyway.

                    'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
                    'Unselfishly so we might have today!'

                    He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

                      You know those two stubby little weapons points on the sides? Well, with some webbing straps...

                          Not really. Its more a winglet they are sitting on, as far from the intake as any SAR crewman was from the intake of an A3

                          Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.
