    Bovington Tankfest 2013

This day last week myself and the junior arachnoids slung our webs over to the Bovington Tank Museum Tankfest.

Big display over two days of historical and modern armour.

I had never been before...what a really great day out.

Everything from replica WW1 tanks to Challenger 2...and everything in between.

Irish Army were there displaying ‘Sliabh na mBan’ alongside the only other running Rolls Royce Armoured Car in the World.

Highlight for me was the Tiger...awesome to see it in running order being put through its paces.

And the grand finale...Soviet era v NATO tanks and AFV's in a Cold War scenario battle...with the Dorset Army Cadets leading the infantry assault having been de-bussed from 432's!!!

I have pictures which I will try to post up later...really recommend this for a day out...actually if I was going again I would buy a weekend ticket because there was lots we didn't manage to see / do.

Great video...the person who filmed that must have been standing right beside us!

I couldn't figure out what the static tank in the middle of the arena was all about...until the finale...

Will try and post my pics up tonight.

We stopped at RAF Cosford on our way home Rod...the museum there is well worth a visit...and its free.

I was hoping to see the Dornier they just raised...but it mustn't be on display to the public yet.

had some great times at RAF Cosford, did my covert photography course there - what a blast being a platoon of Infantry among RAF recruits was!

anyhow, great vid and pics lads keep them coming, sounds like a great day out and one for the bucket list.

Finally got to Bovington this week. Nothing running, but the static museum display was great.

Highly recommend a visit. Only £13 for a ticket valid for a year. Allow a full day - we got there for 10.30, left at closing time 17.00, and still ended up rushing the last bit!

It's a great museum. I've not made it back to TankFest...was meant to go about 3 years ago but left it too late and the tickets were sold out.

And time moves on...one of the JAs is now in the regular Army himself
