Just been reading the comments in the Irish Indo - they range from "Why do we have an army, they re a waste of money" to "Why are they going to protect Israel when they have no combat experience?" with a huge amount of uninformed bollix in between.

Sad thing is, I read very few comments in about 60 on there that was written by anybody who had anything positive to say about this, or seemed to have a clue.

Best of luck to the guys going, it sounds like a tough tour ahead.
'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
    Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

          .
I wouldn't expect anything else from begrudging, ignorant commentators.

As regards the vehicles for the mission most if not all will more than likely be redeployed from our unit serving with UNIFIL when that contingent downsizes from a battalion to a company group in november.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

Shinners and left wing groups make it their business to swamp social media with their agendas

Isn't an Inf Gp (eg KFOR or Cyprus) a Bn minus, ie a HQ/Logs Coy, 1x Inf Coy & Sp Coy ?

Its normally an Inf Coy, Gp HQ and all the necessary CSS elements needed.

KFORs 28 Inf Gp had 213 personnel

when we go down to a coy plus in UNIFIL, it will be 171.

I was thinking if Cyprus and the border

Overseas units are organised to suit the mission requirements. No two missions are the same.

For now anyway. The future is different.

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Best of luck to the lads heading to the Golan Heights, that'll be a fruity deployment.

May they all stay safe and return home unscathed.
