    Trust me
All you need to do is walk down the Grand Parade in Cork on a Saturday to see followers of Wahhabi Islam looking to convert the public, I have no doubt that there are extremists in the ranks.
What are you cackling at, fatty? Too much pie, that's your problem.

How extreme do you need to be to be an extremist Wahhabi?
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

+1 on Apods comment, it's like "civilianising" Garda jobs. More black hats frees up the door kickers for door kicking.

And a thread split maybe for our in inevitable introduction to Islamic terrorism maybe?

Without increasing the recruiting pool within the DF, I can't see it being viable to increase the ARW in its current guise. Better option would be to incorporate a sub-unit into the ARW as a support group. That way, a "tier 2" unit can then focus on particular SF disciplines such as LRRP, Irregular Warfare or Counter Terrorism, taking the pressure off the ARW while at the same time being able to compliment the ARW as a whole force capability package for certain mission profiles. A "tier 2" unit might even open the door to the first and second line reserves too, availing of all the specialist skills that otherwise go unused.

There is nothing to stop an PDF personnel applying for selection once they have the medical and fitness done (you don't even need grade 1 in ITs) and recommendation of CO.

As the election campaign in the Northern Ireland gathered pace yesterday, the Labour Party leader, Mr Ruairi Quinn, found himself…

A soldier who was in the Army Ranger unit when he dislocated his ankle in his first parachute jump has been awarded €80,000 damages by the High Court. Mr Justice Bernard Barton said Cpl Gerard Kirby is a career solider who considers the Army to be his life and whose disappointment at being unable to serve

But the DF can still only deploy them by chopper in 5's or 6's .

You want to go up against 1 Ranger?? What do you think a six man team can do eh??
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.
