    Army (Ford) Ranger!

Saw a Ford Ranger pickup with a hard canopy on the back & the aerial mounts on the front in Dublin today, anyone know what the craic with them is?

Don't the ranger wing use black ones?

And there was a Green one in CBB the other night. I think it was military police.

And there was a camo/dpm coloured one knocking around a while ago.

One of the lads was saying recently that they were being looked at as replacement for the Pajeros

It was OD. It wasn't one of the wing's F350's, it was a Ranger.

If it was an older vehicle it might be one of the old FACE cars (field artillery computing equipment). They don't have FACE in them any more, so they're used as a general runaround and sometimes as an arty CP.

I'm familiar with the vehicles you are referring to and its highly unlikely these would be mistaken for a Ford Ranger in fairness. Plus, both of the old FACE cars have been sent to FACE car heaven AKAIK.

Ive seen one of these Fords in the Curragh a few weeks ago. Was being driven by PA's but didn't have any Military Police markings or blue lights.

It was a 141 reg, and had no PA markings or lights.

Am pretty sure those Arty vehicles were Nissans

Ford Ranger seems to be a cross departmental contract award.

    What's the reports on it?

Wonder would it a viable as a GS & FFR

i mentioned it on here before; any Govt department that needs new 4 X 4 will get the Ford Ranger and will not get anything else unless they make a special case. that's gen from someone directly involved.

    Or a Pajero.
Well, there's good news and bad news. The bad news is that Neil will be taking over both branches, and some of you will lose your jobs. Those of you who are kept on will have to relocate to Swindon, if you wanna stay. I know, gutting. On a more positive note, the good news is, I've been promoted, so... every cloud. You're still thinking about the bad news aren't you?

I've seen an FFR Ranger from a distance and still wonder where the radio sets were as the rear passenger compartment is quite cramped. The regular GS Rangers are good cars but not soldier proof IMHO
