Doesn't seem to bother Scottish regiments. And they aren't allow wear underwear under the kilt either...
What are you cackling at, fatty? Too much pie, that's your problem.

Did you learn that one from a Carry On film?
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

Ceased to exist in 1994 when it was amalgamated. It was almalgamated again in 2006

                  1. Do you have to be so bloody pedantic on every topic that you comment on.
                  2. I know the regiment was amalgamated and for your information, it was originally amalgamated with the The Queens' Own Highlanders in 1994, forming The Highlanders Regiment, which was then amalgamated with other Scottish regiments in 2006 to form the Royal Regiment of Scotland. If you insist on being pedantic, then at least do it properly.
                  3. I have not been able to confirm for you if the current regiment operates the same dress regulations, however, as is the case of regiments merging in the British Army, traditions are usually maintained, so it is safe to assume this one continues.

"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

                      • Why, is what I'd like to know? The current band uniform (which replaced a previous dark green version) can't be in service any more than 10 years. And the 2 Cav escort uniform is probably only in service about half that....

                        • They aren't new uniforms as such. Its a new tender. Typical heddeld getting it mixed up. Do we expect people who preform an entirely ceremonial role to wear the same uniform for the duration of their career?

                          • Not only the Herald that's mixed up. The reporter is illiterate as well as ignorant by which I mean utterly lacking any knowledge on the subject.

                            • Why is stuff like this even newsworthy? If the department of agriculture spent €200,000 on boilersuits for cattle or grant inspectors would it make the Herald?

If the ambulance people got new snickers gear would anybody notice?

What is the reason behind the constant sniping at the DF?
