No, I would not expect personnel to wear the same uniform for duration of service. The article seemed to be saying (to me anyway) that it was a completely new uniform.

The article also seems to be saying that members of the Pipe Bands will be wearing the same outfit as the bands?

Granted, of all the services, the Bands are probably in their SD No.1 more often than anyone else, going by the figure of 527 public appearances in 2014 by the combined bands of the DF

      • any more word on how the trial samples for the rest of us are coming along? Decisions made on stand collar, etc?
An army is power. Its entire purpose is to coerce others. This power can not be used carelessly or recklessly. This power can do great harm. We have seen more suffering than any man should ever see, and if there is going to be an end to it, it must be an end that justifies the cost. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain

        • New army SD on hold until 2017.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

          • So much for wearing them for the 1916 centenary.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

                • Could be a massive waste of money given the volume of new number ones already issued this year to date. In my opinion, it might have been cheaper and more cost effective to go with the new design now.
What are you cackling at, fatty? Too much pie, that's your problem.

It was the year of fire...the year of destruction...the year we took back what was ours.
It was the year of rebirth...the year of great sadness...the year of pain...and the year of joy.
It was a new age...It was the end of history.
It was the year everything changed.
