There was a few people talked to Joe yesterday who flew out on the day of the attack (hours after). Some tour companies offered refunds or free holidays to other places. One particular company said take it or leave it your staying miles away (not..... 500 metres)

I have a little sympathy with his plight given there are kids involved and I can only imagine the shit his missus is giving him, but just because he wants a mediterranean cruise as opposed to two weeks on the beach, tough shit mate, should have done your homework before flying out.
Now what clown even published this crap!!!! plus used an ancient picture of Eithne in Waterford harbour as opposed to the med!! fcuking clowns!!!!!
Enjoy your two weeks in the sun..mate..
How about bringing the Luas around to my house cos I don't like the taxis...ffs!
Now on a slightly related note, why hasn't the CASA been tasked with retrieving the remains of those killed as opposed to having the wait around for commercial flights?
Save the families the pain of the wait. The RAF did it with a C 17, why couldn't we?Covid 19 is not over ....it's still very real..Hand Hygiene, Social Distancing and Masks.. keep safe

I was thnking that myself - about the CASA - its only a handful of coffins, but would be a nice gesture by the state given the circumstances. however id wager some other countries are retrieving their citizens via charter flights."He is an enemy officer taken in battle and entitled to fair treatment."
"No, sir. He's a sergeant, and they don't deserve no respect at all, sir. I should know. They're cunning and artful, if they're any good. I wouldn't mind if he was an officer, sir. But sergeants are clever."

being serious, i'm sure that if the IG asked, the British government would happily assist - it does appear that this will be contuing for some days yet, so plenty of time to organise.
obviously things like national pride intrude on this issue, but i think the Minister could easily come up with a pithy remark or twenty should some venom encrusted soap-dodger or murderer protest....

The Casa? It's not a Hercules, folks. Getting in one stretcher and medical kit is tight; trying to get in a stack of coffins and personal belongings and relatives is really pushing it, if you don't strip out the mission fit first. It's also as slow as shite for what is effectively a long-haul flight.....the Berkeley charter was also a revenue flight, as far as I know. The Govt usually claims off the family's insurance after the event. These repatriations are not FOC; someone pays for it in the end.

I would have thought the Beckett, with its extra deck space would have been the obvious choice?
The LÉ Eithne, which has been engaged in search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean, is set to return to Ireland at the end of the month.
Thousands of men, women and children have been rescued by the crew of the LÉ Eithne as it assists the Italian authorities in their struggle with rescuing migrants in the Mediterranean.
Defence Minister Simon Coveney told Newstalk Lunchtime that the LÉ Niamh will replace the Eithne, and will continue search and rescue operations in the area until September.

Thought the Casa could be adapted to take 3 or 4 standard air cargo units or 44 troops or 3 coffins or what?
