And they're gone! Or at least some of them anyway. The naval base and air base appear to be staying. Whats Putins plan here I wonder.
Syria conflict: Russia's Putin orders 'main part' of forces out
In a surprise move, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered his military to start withdrawing the "main part" of its forces in Syria from Tuesday.
He said the Russian intervention had largely achieved its objectives.....

With recent events in Turkey and the potential for more trouble in the near future and an escalation in Turkeys involvement, it might also be a chance for Russia to step back. Take the heat of Russia for a while, let Russian / Western relations cool / improve for a bit and any set backs or breakdowns on ceasefires will be blamed on others. It's an interesting development anyway.
