Getting back to strengths and the future, it seems that even for maximum pension years, for those that joined after a date in 2013, the pension earned will only be 20% of final salary. This will mean an exodus, at the earliest pension age, to get private sector employment to raise families and provide for future. It saves money--if you get injured in service there is no hospital and when you retire there is no money. Well done VFM!!.

The present permitted strengths of the NS in CS4 ( establishments) does not reflect crews for each of the 9 ships currently in service. Quotes in various sources indicate that no strength increase was allowed for the last two P60's. Knowing the logic of the mandarins, when P31. P41, and P42 are decommissioned, they will strike off around 150 personnel or more, shuffle the figures, and curtail recruitment. Whatever recruitment is left needs to be redesigned to positive recruitment i.e. Right age group, medically fit, and Leaving Cert. Standard, no interviews or exclusion procedures, take into training and finally select by Final Approval.

Taxpayer picking up €13m tab for outsourcing maintenance of navy ships as key staff quit
NS is supposed to have 1 CPO/ERA and 10 PO/ERA, there is no PO/ERAs left

That figure is nowhere near correct. Each ship used to have one CPO/ERA and 10 other POs mixed between ERA, EA, RRT, Cook, Bosun etc.If the numbers given are correct, thingsre far worse than reported.
Sean has a habit of getting important details mixed up though.
edit: Maybe he means dockyard staff?Last edited by na grohmiti; 22 March 2024, 09:35.For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

Thanks, was looking for one of those PQs. Thats 2023. Assuming things in the ERA world were the same as the rest of the DF, we would be down to about 50 and those who were undergoing training, all left and joined Stryker or GE.Last edited by na grohmiti; 23 March 2024, 09:34.For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.
