I'm doing a project / presentation on the "History of the Irish Defence Forces". Looking for some links and info other than the DF official site and Wikipedia. Unfortunately I won't have access to an Irish library or the Curragh museum so any electronic inspiration would be most welcome!

"No, sir. He's a sergeant, and they don't deserve no respect at all, sir. I should know. They're cunning and artful, if they're any good. I wouldn't mind if he was an officer, sir. But sergeants are clever."

Duggans book is the reference work - it is very good but only covers up to a certain time mid 80's I think . What is your audience and what is your spin on it - why should I go to your talk - might help us recommend a few works."Are they trying to shoot down the other drone? "
"No, they're trying to fly the tank"

Cheers for the links chaps. The book will have to wait unfortunately, looks quite comprehensive."Many a time a man's mouth broke his nose"
"Don't waste money buying expensive binoculars. Simply stand next to the object you wish to view."

This one was published in 1997, but covers a lot of ground...
'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

Donal MacCarron Foreword by Lieutenant General G.-J. McMahon (Former Chief of Staff, Irish Defence Forces). Ireland adopted a neutrality policy during the Second World War which was locally known as ‘The Emergency’. At the outbreak of the war, Irish defence forces were in a poor state; hence the creation of the Emergency Army.
