That would be in the Soldier 2017 thread if there was any news on that front. That uniform was not re-ordered after we decided to pull out of RSM in Kabul.
Rumours of a change to an Irish Multicam in a few years to replace IP-DPM/IP-DDPM in all theatres.

Anyway.Looks like the barrack boots are a goner.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

Day Two at IDEX 2019 started off with blue skies – though being in the expo halls from early morning until evening meant J-F did not see too much of the sun

What? A winter AND a summer boot? Whatever next!
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

        • One of the aircrew is wearing something unusual on his feet here.

And the winter boot is a slightly tweaked version of the Nebraska pro.

            • I picked up my new boots on Friday - Aku High Liability Combat, and some Iturri Cold Wet Weather boots.

The Aku's are really comfy, I've worn them to walk the dog (8km on forestry roads) general mooching and to drive to Sennybridge (2 hours). Very happy with them. The Iturri's I wore all day on Saturday in sleet, snow and bog - they are comfortable straight from the box and properly warm and toasty. Very grippy sole unit, and the yeti gaiters fit like a glove/bastard.

              Single boot concept? Utterly ridiculous...

              • Just looking at the Album of photos of the DF on overseas service on St.Patricks day up on Flickr.
Mainly medal parades for first timers in all locations.

A couple of things jumped out at me. First. While all the others locations are wearing the new Haix, KFOR are still in black boots.

Second. If you look at the lads in UNDOF it appears the good idea fairy has struck again. The new Haix appear to have been polished/waxed. Thus ruining the breathability of the boots. The boots look shiny and a darker brown. Compare that with the lads boots in UNIFIL,where the boots are clean but still the original colour.

I hate to say it but I predicted this. A good boot but they require specialist care and cleaning items. None of which are readily available overseas(or widely at home for that matter!) I mean you can't just nip across to The Great Outdoors or River deep Mountain High to pick up Nikwax on the Golan now can you.

Tender for these boots for general issue doesn't include any cleaning cleaning/maintenance kit with them. This is going to be a Charlie Fox from day one

                • Most Haix come with their own polish cream in a toothpaste lik tube (as well as spare insoles). There does seem to be an inconsistency in shades though, one can only hope some boots were wet, while others were dry, otherwise those boots have been ruined forever.

Not these ones. Only thing we are getting with them is spare laces.

Saw the album earlier and noticed exactly what you pointed out almost immediately. Which has made the boots looks diabolical. From the outset, when someone said the boots were Nubuck, my first reaction was "gonna be a bugger to keep those clean" -and so it has come to pass

Although - and my eyes may be deceiving me - in this PHOTO, the soldier
just behind the inspecting general's (FC?) left shoulder seems to be wearing different boots?

Any valid reason why we couldn't have plumped for desert version Magnums, and kept the existing Haix for home / inclement overseas conditions?
"Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"

We DID have Desert magnums before. They were discontinued on cost cutting grounds. Remember they could only be worn overseas. No use at home so were discarded after six months average wear.
The theory behind the new Haix is that they can be worn overseas AND at home.

                            Remains to be seen.

Nope. Those are issued Scouts.Ruined by waxing by the look of it.
