Kitmonster used to have a kitbag on sale (big black one) - think it might have been MoD issue to British service personnel
    Might be similar?

    EDIT: They still do....

That appears to be the very same bag, on the exterior anyway.

      Very good bit of kit.

There is a DF crest on the side which would be the only difference.

Back on topic. The lads out in the Leb were issued the new Haix boots today.
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

Any sign of the UNDOF rotation getting them before being deployed?

Is it just me, or have the toes/heels of the boots been polished? Is that just the design of the boot?

Just the boot design. Rubber toe cap and heel protector.Brand new so shiny.

I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.

Defo not practical for home service in the depths of winter, IMHO

the boot itself will probably be fine, light and has waterproof membrane so should keep feet dry.

big issue regards practicalness will be how scuffed and worn the fabric becomes and more importantly how the barrack fashion police view this.
no doubt some BSM, etc. will issue a hair brained order for boots to be polished, not worn outside barracks, not worn on grass, etc, etc. to make sure they stay new out of the box looking for GOCs.

if the single pair issue is the case it will raise serious issues or higher ups will have to relax about how boots physically look after a while.
An army is power. Its entire purpose is to coerce others. This power can not be used carelessly or recklessly. This power can do great harm. We have seen more suffering than any man should ever see, and if there is going to be an end to it, it must be an end that justifies the cost. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain

                              +1.
IMHO there is still a requirement for a cheaper day to day Barracks boot. The line value of the new boots is €184.00. So they are not going to issue us a second pair of those. But as has been said one pair of boots to serve you for all tasks is ridiculous.

Of course there is zero info coming out from official sources as to what the plan is.I guess the days of NEEDING to purchase a second pair of boots is back.

Being Nubuck they'd be very difficult to keep clean I'd say
