  • Help For The Army Fitness Test

So I have my fitness test for 1bde in Collins Barracks on Monday and I’m wondering is there anything I can do to help me prepare for the fitness test and interview. I’ve been training away in the gym six times a week and recently got into running but I’m afraid it’s not enough, as for the interview side of things I’m worried about it because it asks for a list of achievements, I don’t really have any. I’ve been working I’m the bar trade the last five years so I had to give up sports over the ungodly hours. I’m worried that this will go against me. Any tips or help will be greatly appreciated

I;d be out there jogging twice every day between now and then, you would be amazed at the difference it will make

Too late to anything about fitness now

      Eat healthy, hydrate, rest, stretch

For the interview you’ll be in front of 3 interviewers. You’ll be asked how you have displayed certain competencies That are important to the DF.

You need to show at least 2 occasions where you have displayed each, what you did, what it involved, what you learnt etc

Sorry I completely disagree. For a 2 miler for a young fella having a bit of conditioning even the few days is a big thing .

Trell is right. Do a bit of running between now and then (don't injure yourself!)
I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.

In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.

You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.
