    • Everything is delayed.

      Everything.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

Tender has gone to stage two and has been published (restricted). Trials have started. They know what they want. Just trialling to ensure it holds up.

              • Looks like one of the trial versions on the Cav bods. Preferred option gone to tender?

An army is power. Its entire purpose is to coerce others. This power can not be used carelessly or recklessly. This power can do great harm. We have seen more suffering than any man should ever see, and if there is going to be an end to it, it must be an end that justifies the cost. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain

Nope. That’s First Spear kit borrowed from you know who for the competition.

                    • Heard from a reliable source that the DF have somehow lost the tender and will be starting the process again.

They had also apparently made a poor choice with regards to final selection ... Perhaps a silver lining it's been dropped.

The Higher ups were only briefed on 10 August that they were going to award the contract in Q3 of this year with first expected deliveries in Q1/2 of 2024. No mention of the Tender being lost or starting again. And that was on an official brief that's available to see fro anyone with IKON access. So unless something went haywire over the last three weeks I would take that with a big pinch of salt.
