  • Negligent Discharge

    Surprised there has been no discussion about this considering it has been fairly well covered in the media.

    Very lucky someone wasn't killed.

    How a soldier can find him or herself in a position where they have a round in the chamber with the safety off and pulling the trigger is truly worrying.

    Social media is alight with this story
    "Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!" (Jimmy Greaves)!"

      Without knowing the circumstances, particularly the weapon involved, I'm reluctant to pass judgement.

      At the end of the day there are 2 people at fault though.

      1. O.i.c

      2. Individual who fired the negligent round.
      For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

        I once had a colleague who had an nd in crossmaglem with a 40mm grenade launcher back in the 1980. The story was they were sheltering in a barn, he was having a ciggie and discharged an m79 into the middle of his mates. Luckily it didn't travel far enough to arm

          The Blooper was known for NDs.

            The only ND I ever witnessed was a muppet who did a make safe without removing the magazine...

            Mind you, he shouldn’t have been trusted with a pick axe handle...
            'He died who loved to live,' they'll say,
            'Unselfishly so we might have today!'
            Like hell! He fought because he had to fight;
            He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.
