A very specialised piece of Kit that. Known as a "Jig" in th emotor trade. Rarely used. I expect they wish to prolong the life of vehicles that would otherwise have to be scrapped.

For the DF. Who have no involvement in crime prevention, outside of cash escorts and guarding prisons (both of which are roles assisting the Gardai or the prison service)

So what's the relevance to a thread about crime?

if the DoD is placing a contract for 6000 units of body armour it sounds like it will be pooled, as it is now.

however, there could be two other possibilities:

    1. further orders will be placed until there is enough for personnel issue.

    2. new body armour issued to frontline infantry, arty units, etc. with the existing stocks issued to support units, logs, CIS, etc. that way everybody would still have personnel issue.

however, this is the Irish Gov. so it'll probably just be pooled! common sense isn't issued to politicians or accountants.
The people of England have been led in Mesopotamia into a trap from which it will be hard to escape with dignity and honour. They have been tricked into it by a steady withholding of information. The Baghdad communiqués are belated, insincere, incomplete.....It is a disgrace to our imperial record, and may soon be too inflamed for any ordinary cure.We are to-day not far from a disaster.

meanwhile out in the far reaches of reserve space .. some of us will for years to come, bravely have tea and crumpets while we sit in the butts with no helmets or body armour... not that a ricochette will ever happen on a range.... not would it hit anyone.... i mean... come on... what are the odds!!??

"No, sir. He's a sergeant, and they don't deserve no respect at all, sir. I should know. They're cunning and artful, if they're any good. I wouldn't mind if he was an officer, sir. But sergeants are clever."
