        It is a very cheap way of turning an Irish issue green bergen into camouflage. One bergen can be issued and depending on terrein or change in camoflage schemes can be changed without having to change the bergen. Used by the brits when their western camo bergens were used in the middle east.

        Also waterproof and keeps the rain off.

            Useful kit I got:
            Special Forces GTX boots. Good quality sleeping bag (important). Comfortable webbing. Leatherman and Mag lite (only if you are confident you wont lose them). Gas cooker, I don't believe in hexi cookers. Platypus, you dont always have time to take a bottle out . A good bush hat with a place to stick leaves and things into, nothing worse than fiddling while an NCO is secretly watching and laughing at you (TIM). Good gloves and waterproof.

            Useless kit: Handwarmers, maybe its just me but I bought 3 and never used any. Your own pancho, the issued ones are much better than something you will buy. Low quality anything, if you are going to be in the DF a while you might as well do it right.

            I am by no means very experienced but I know a thing or two. This is just whats , in my opinion, people should make sure they have.

              I bought my own poncho (for use as a shelter), very lightweight compared to issue one (about half the weight & packs down alot smaller), have all the bungess & paracord permanently attached + don't have to give it back. Plus it was only about e10-15.

                  GOOD DEALS

                  Apparently, the shop beside Millets in Mary Street, I thinks it's Army Bargains, had a fire and is selling off stock on the cheap!

                  Goods are going for about half price!

                    It's not army bargains anyway, cheap doesn't exist there. It's the one to the right of Millets when you look at Millets.

                            bap holster

                            be very careful using any bought equipment like holsters etc,
                            i know of a pdf sgt who had an incident with a bap and the spare magazine etc
                            on making a statement to the PA's (spit) they seemed to be more interested in whether it was an issue or a mingi holster
                            so just take care
                            or learn to lie like cadre staff when asked to do any work
                            Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
                            Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
                            The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
                            The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
                            The best lack all conviction, while the worst
                            Are full of passionate intensity.

                                I have a tac vest and all I'll use it for is FIBUA or as I like to call it now FISH.

                                A tac vest is much better for urban situations, it doesn't weigh you down like a cefo, and you can hold all the essentials of urban warfare, ammo, aqua bladder,grenades, multitool and cable ties (hee hee)
