You pay 1.5m for what is a pretty basic wheeled APC in the Mowag Piranha. 60 million would be a good guide price for a Charlie 2.

If this is the case then we got ripped off with the Mowags....
Oh wait...
Never mind.
In June 1991 the British Government selected the Challenger 2 and placed an order worth £520 million for 127 Challenger 2 MBTs and 13 driver training tanks. Production began in 1993 and the first vehicles were delivered in July 1994.
Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

Google is your friend, children......
According to http://www.armedforces.co.uk/army/listings/l0023.html a Challenger 2 cost in the region of £4 million sterling in 1999.
The initial order was 127 MBTs and 13 Driver Training Tanks (DTTs), for £520 million, giving an average cost of £3.71 million per tank (a MBT would be more expensive than a DTT, obviously)
The second order was 259 MBTs and 9 DTTs for £800 million, a unit price of £2.98 million

As far as i know the merkava is only used by the isrealis. Althought it's far superior to may MBT on the market its weight has lead many forgein nations to lose interest in purchasing them due to the difficultise in deploying them.Last edited by mugs; 4 October 2006, 23:43.Theirs not to make reply,
