Read some proper news about what is going on in their country of origin. Economy is the least of their worries. For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

With the size of europe and its population size, these numbers are miniscule - thats the real news."He is an enemy officer taken in battle and entitled to fair treatment."
"No, sir. He's a sergeant, and they don't deserve no respect at all, sir. I should know. They're cunning and artful, if they're any good. I wouldn't mind if he was an officer, sir. But sergeants are clever."

In regards to medical cover on ships rescuing people in multiple hundreds I was suggesting an MD would add benefit to the range of treatments arising. Hospitals, HSE, Military doctors, do not solve the problem but paint you into a corner of difficulties and paperwork. Get a volunteer MD, swear him/her in, put them in uniform, pay them in the rank of juniour Comdt./ Lieut. Comdr., demobilise on return home with a E5000 gratuity.

'Nuff said.Carry on."Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

The refugees arrive in Libya, under their own arrangements, from all parts of Africa, Middle East, and near Asia. They then become prisoners of circumstance to those arranging travel to Europe. In most cases they are retained in a marshaling area from which time the method , and direction of travel is controlled by those we call traffickers or smugglers. Until they are put on craft , they are prisoners and forced to sea in a manner not of their choice. Because of those circumstances alone, SOLAS action is necessary to save lives in jeopardy . It is estimated that about 2000 refugees have died by drowning so far this year.
