Then why, pray tell, were they previously pictured on 269 and are on 260 in this picture?

FWIW, I believe an IAC tech on here previously explained that all the PC-9st were plumbed for external tanks.

As an aside, what scenario would require 8 sets of external fuel tanks?

Thats the highly classified Brigade Level plan to invade Northern Ireland.

It involves a heavily air supported push of MOWAGS up the M1 motorway; straight into Belfast where Gerry Adams is currently not sleeping to well due to loud bangs.

Arlene Foster (like any good Unionist as republican propaganda has always said ) has been bought off by the continued promise of a UK state pension as the Irish one is, well, simply shoite…

Rumour has it that the Lads hope to be back in Dublin for tea and medals by next Wednesday.

We'll see how that plays out

                    • Excuse my ignorance but would someone please tell me why would one PC9 need to be fitted with fuel tanks and the other not?

Perhaps one flies direct, while the other stops off to refuel along the way. If the 2nd is weather delayed, at least one aircraft will make the show. The question is did both arrive together? Fairford has quite a queue of arriving aircraft for up to 3 days before the main show, usually at 10 minute intervals. Miss your slot and you'll have to divert to an alternate until they are ready for you.
For now, everything hangs on implementation of the CoDF report.

Firstly, they are all plugged for underwing tanks.

Secondly, there is no secret reason why one had tanks on. It was a demo for the purposes of the airshow.

                          • Why then did only one have tanks while the other was clean? Surely underwing gun and rocket pods would have completed the picture?

                            • They are really napalm tanks as part of a BREXIT contingency or water bombs for fire fighting

Because gun and rocket pods are not a new addition to IAC PC-9's.

Secondly, there is diplomatic protocol which is has to be respected. Submitting a request to carry weapons pods, regardless of whether they contain any ordnance or not, is a completely different kettle of fish than underwing fuel tanks.
