I knew a simple soldier boy.....
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
And no one spoke of him again.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.
No they're not.The problem is that as usual they have been issued out in haste and the vast majority of people using them have not been instructed properly how they are to be used.
I would lay money on it that most of those guys(the ones getting stoppages) had their gas setting at "R".They new BFA requires the gas plug turned to "A".
"Let us be clear about three facts. First, all battles and all wars are won in the end by the infantryman. Secondly, the infantryman always bears the brunt. His casualties are heavier, he suffers greater extremes of discomfort and fatigue than the other arms. Thirdly, the art of the infantryman is less stereotyped and far harder to acquire in modern war than that of any other arm." ------- Field Marshall Wavell, April 1945.

Well then instruction on them has been shite. What are they like on the end of the barrel? Much difference in balance? Also, are these much better than the old BFAs?
There are problems with them which I think are being sorted plus if there is a mix up with ammunition you will be grateful for the banana

They're grand if you keep it tightened and on adverse. Bit of a pain to put on and off unless you have a multi tool
How do you get it on and off? Screws? Pliers?

I am leaving this BFA talk here 'cause it relates to the ex/demo/WHY/pressjolly which relates to the deployment.

Coveney reviews troops ahead of Golan Heights deployment
Minister for Defence Simon Coveney reviewed troops at Collins Barracks in Cork today ahead of their deployment to the Golan Heights later this month.
130 members of the 50th Infantry group will be the fifth Irish contingent to be deployed on a six-month tour of duty with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), since September 2013.
UNDOF was established in the Golan Heights following the Six Day War between Israel, Syria and Egypt in 1973, but the region has become increasingly unstable in recent times.
