On 21 March 1989 3 Irish Soldiers,Cpl Fintan Heneghan,1 inf bn,Pte Thomas Walsh,26 inf bn, and Pte Mannix Armstrong, 28 inf bn in service with 64Irishbatt UNIFIL were killed when their truck struck a Land mine. New evidence has recently come to light to suggest that these men should not have been sent on that particular stretch of road. Family members of the 3 are angry with the Defence Forces authorities for their failure to answer certain questions.
