Hey everyone, got a mad book for eleven euro in Porters about the Irish Civil War, and I was shocked to read in it about Michael Collins, great man that he was had an ulterior motive. He accepted the treaty, but secretly planned to invade and reclaim the six counties once his army was big and supplied properly. He organised gun running over the border among other sneaky things, but eventually gave this up(can't remember why).
I think that if Collins had attempted this, that Britain would have once again taken over.It would have been very hard for Collins to defend the island as a whole from overseas invasion.
Hmm, now why wasn't this mentioned in Neil Jordan's film??
Would it have scarred his reputation as a National and honest leader??
Any thoughts??
