    Just learned of the death of John Stewart a while ago.

    John originally served in the NS as a cook and transferred to 12th bn Clonmel as a cook and later served with 3 Cav as a cook sergeant.

    John was also a prominet member of the ONE and Naval Association .

    Noted for his singing was well known in stage productions in his native Carrick on Suir.

    He was a fine cook as well as being first class serviceman.

    john took me under his wing when I joined the reserve back in 91.

    Farewell old friend, you will be missed in many a dining hall

    Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.

        Sorry to hear about the loss of a friend and a comrade lads.

        Sincere condolonces to his family.
        Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
        Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
        The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
        The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
        The best lack all conviction, while the worst
        Are full of passionate intensity.

                  John suffered a sudden heart attack. I don't think the man was ill a day in his life. And he was relatively young, just shy of 60 AFAIK. Removal is Saturday night and burial Sunday morning in Carrick on Suir.

                  My best memory of John was when I was a recruit and he was the cook for our week on Bere Island. I can still picture, and hear him in memory, singing Dingle Bay down the pub.

                  Rest in Peace, John.
