Hi i was wondering if anybody has any good sites on "The Irish Involvement in UNIFIL 1978-1992" or if you have any books that you could recommend. I'm doing a project for the Leaving cert on this topic as my dad, my aunt and my grandad all served in Lebanon. Thanks for any help and its much appreciated.

Blue Helmets, book came out about 15 years ago. Would cover the period quite well, should be in any good library.
Internet sources are for the most part unreliable. Avoid them if you want to get decent/any results.
Visit the National museum, in Collins Barracks, Dublin, their bookshop has a lot of useful source material.
Where are you located, roughly?
Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.
Get in contact with the UN vets organisation and ONE and get the information first hand.
Why stop at 1992 (era of 70 and 71 Bns)
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere***
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Thanks for all the reply's. Im in Lucan so Collins Barracks is handy to get there so ill head in there over the weekend. And unfortunately the project is confined to certain date boundaries and 1992 is the upper limit. And no aspect in particular, just major events really as im struggling to find information. And ill ahve a look at those books so thanks again.
my own son is doing the history project for the LC this year and we settled on an obscure theme , not the same as your own but obscure enough to make it interesting.
he had submitted in before christmas and got back the first critique on it last night and his teacher had gone through it in fine detail, not the specifics as such but how it has to be presented to make it interesting enough for the marker to award it the points deserved.
I'm sure your teachers will advise you in the right direction but points to note is that you have to treat the marker as an idiot and bear in mind they may know absolutely nothing on the subject and it is your explanation of the events, structures, formations right down to individual roles that will get you the marks.
Now revisit your original idea, have you created to long a time frame on what is very detailed subject with lots of reference material and explanation and even quotations required to get the score you require.
I don't doubt your ability to be able to do so, but to be able to do it in a format with the constrictions of the exam on the subject and time frame will indeed be a feat it itself.
May I suggest that you might revisit the time frame and maybe reduce it to may a specific action, year,event or memoir in order to reduce the risk of it becoming a bigger task than it needs to be to score an appropriate grade.
Just a suggestion.
