does that mean all of our acmats (British Army) are left-hand drive
The Brits have bought many things like ACMATs but the only unit that MAY have acmats unkown to the rest of us would be special forces.Covid 19 is not over ....it's still very real..Hand Hygiene, Social Distancing and Masks.. keep safe

There is the story about the FRES utilty vehicle competition the so called "trials of Truth", the british evaluated the boxer, the Piranha V and the VBCI from france for the FRES untility requirement when Lord Drayson was head of defence procurement. It was 2007 and the failure to produce a FRES UV was causing problems and lots of casualties in Afghanistan
Offically the Piranha V won but it was the latest version and only available on paper. In reality the VBCI was the clear winner, and the french offered to divert 250 of their own order to the British. Lord Drayson went back to the government and their military advisors and said, "this is the best vehicle we can buy, and the french are willing to give us a head start so we can deploy it early". to which the reaction was, "but its french", and they refused to buy it.
Sad but true, some people were more concerned with getting jobs after retirement in the defence industry than providing the right equipment.Last edited by paul g; 21 February 2013, 22:14.

"Asking price very high" was not really the biggest problem. The description of having "very little rust in the battery compartment only" was more of a problem.
By way of Intro I am the mad Aussie that bought it with the intention of shipping to Aus. Spent a few weeks crawling over it last October in Cambridge and found a lot of issues so it is going in for a major rebuild and it will most likely be ready around June /July.Regards

If my Acmat is one of the original 6 the survival rate of the ex Irish ones seem quite good out of the first 6 appears fairly good.
- Protacman has 2 (scrapped one to make the dual cab) in Ireland
- 1 went to Germany
- Thunderbird in Ireland
- Mine in UK
I 'assume' this is the list of the original 6, which means only 1 has gone?Regards

just found a picture of a 93D and that's the hard top one with the nice solid doors.
Is that you Mr K?
Not much going on with the rebuild at present as the guy that was supposed to do work on it did bugger all, so had to find a more reliable workshop. Going there on the 18th of JanuaryRegards
