Saw a Nissan Patrol on the M1 the other day with no decals and a bunch of civvies (family) in it, assume it was surplus. I heard they were selling a load this year and next.

There'll be more sales in 2 yrs time when it's the turn of the 97 D vehicles to be "boarded"

Hi all
They're "boarding" vehicles that are only eight years old?!! Why? Are they knackered already? Whatever happened to keeping vehicles running until they were beyond use? Or is it that the only good 4x4 is a LandRover. It doesn't say much for their longevity or value for money if they are regarded as unfit after such a short time in service.

10 yr life cycle for Nissans, GttC, that's what I was referring to, so in 2 yrs, they will be boarded, in the same way that the 95's are being currently. And yes, your reaction to Murph was more or less mine too, until I read Murph's qualifying post underneath.

The Aussies had M113s with Scorpion Turrets/76mm guns for fire support.

They initially used the turrets from scrapped Saladin armoured cars before upgrading to the Scorpion turret, both use the same 76mm gun.

6399 Mils of thread, Cal Tanker, great article in the An Cosantoir,

maybe you could tel us all (me in particular) a bit about the initial basic training for the national guard, as soldiers most of us are interested in a lot of what some would consider minuate, so dont be afraid to describe or show pics of billets and beds, ranges and running areas etc, I know i in particular want to compare what you lads have with what we have etc
thanks

OOOO- CVRTs and Spartans for sale.

Y'know, if you already had these in service, and were about to embark on an upgrade programme and needed a few extra, you could do worse. Cheap too.
