Apparently there were Marine-Flieger Tornado's in Bal on Saturday, are you sure that you saw ADV's?

I'm near sure they were F3's painted in dark grey pattern, but i could be mistaken.

German Navy tornados are used in the anti ship role and as such are painted dark grey..

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

          Tornado's

If it was the Tornado ADV it would look longer than the normal tornado and just a little bit wider.

It would be easily recognised a an RAF Tornado ADV as they wear very very light grey.

If it was a german Navy tornado it would be painted like above of very dark grey or sometimes grey with a hint of dark blue/green.

Why tornado's for the arrival of Rumsfeld? Would f-15e's or any other US jets from lakenheath or any other USAFE Base have done?

Id say the German Tornado's were up to practice with the Casa or maybe some low level training perhaps?:-patriot:

Bit embarrassing that we don't have our own aircraft to patrol our airspace !

If they were German Tornados, why would they be training with the CASA's ?

Your telling me that Irish Air Corps CASA's train with GERMAN Tornado jets for target co-ordination etc ?

Surely SAR training would be the only explaination (if even that !) ?

                  Tornados on SAR training ?

                    Training

Tornado's regularily train with the 2 Casa aircraft as a type of cat and mouse situation, it has to do with the casa's radar being so good that they try to jam it and get close enough to the casa to fire a shot at it but this has never happened as the casa has always spotted them a LONG way away.

The reason that they are Navy Tornado's training would be the fact that they operate over the sea!!! as does the casa!:-patriot::D:-patriot:

That was kept very quiet. You would think that such training excercises would at least merit an article (and photos) in An Cosantoir !

BTW, Does the AC have any "in house" magazine or newsletter ?
