  • Yellow Oscar advertises Duncannon (split from Classic Military Vehicle Weekend)

All 3 ACMATS outside Protac are ex-Irish Army. Next show for military vehicles is Duncannon in Co. Wexford on the June bank holiday weekend (3. 4 & 5). Another show will be at Rathbeegan Lakes in August. Check out www.imvg.org

The Duncannon Show will have other groups that were not at the Curragh show. I can count at least 35 vehicles that were not at the Curragh. Battle Group South, Waterford Mil Grp, Irish Military Vehicles Group, The Great War Society to name a few.

DUNCANNON THE LARGEST MILITARY SHOW IN IRELAND.

Feel free to publicise events, but please do so in a seperate thread for each event, if it's noteworthy (and I'm feeling like being nice) it might even get stickyed, kthxbye

Duncannons show last year, despite the weather, was pretty good, however it does not have the same space as the curragh. I cannot see that tank getting down those narrow streets on the back of a low loader.
Will the vehicles that were in The Curragh yesterday not be in Duncannon?

Catch-22 says they have a right to do anything we can't stop them from doing.

If you mean the vehicles at the show, some may be but most of them were from Northern Ireland and they will probably not travel south again. The Curragh show has gotten smaller each year, and in today's paper he claimed that groups attended that did not - Battlegroup South, Waterford mil group, as usual making claims that are not true. The Curragh show has been boycotted by these groups because the committee of M.V.C.I. keep claiming that they represent all the military vehicles in Ireland. The M.V.C.I. has in fact very few members with vehicles in the South of Ireland. The I.M.V.G. have the greatest number of vehicles and show them all the time.

[Mod edit - this is the Duncannon thread, not the bitch about the MVCI thread. Try not to define your event by how much better it is than others, and take your grievances about MVCI to a thread on the matter]

Sorry if I misled anyone, neither myself or the I.M.V.G. have anything to do with the Duncannon Show, though we will of course be there. [Mod edit - the rest of the post is pointless]

The only people who suffer from such boycots are the enthusiast who visit these shows.

              Hi there
You know how it goes! Set up the organisation and wait for the Split. Somebody ought to sack the leadership (read: stubborn egotists) of both groups and unite to form one group.Twats!

Lads the organisers of the Duncannon Fort Military Show in Co. Wexford have asked me to post a few details of the event on this site.

As you know the event will be over three days 3rd, 4th & 5th June. Military Vehicles and Re-Enactment groups will include the following:

Legion Augustus (Romans), Celts, Vikings, Normans, Gallowglass, Kerns and general Medieval re-enactment.
1798 Pikemen, 88th Foot Connaught Rangers, American Civil War
                    Irish Company Great War Society
                    Irish War of Independence
World War II: Battle Group South (German) with a Sdkfz 251 Ausf C Halftrack APC, Opel Blitz Truck, Kubelwagens, BMW Motorcycle combinations, Zundap and a Flak Gun. London Irish Rifles (UK) with Trucks, Jeeps, Bofors AA gun, BSA & Matchless motorbikes etc.
36th Motor Infantry Brigade (Russian), 101st Airborne and 82nd Airborne (US).
Cold War: MMVRG Abbot Tracked SPH and FV432 Tracked APC, also the Irish military vehicle group will have their display of vehicles and kit.

So far there are almost 400 re-enactors coming to the event. All of the above re-enactment groups will stage regular battles during each day with the fort echoing to the sound of muskets, swords and machine guns.
So far participants are coming from Ireland, UK, Germany, Holland and France.
Stalls will include, Irish badges and insignia, Prince August, Medal Club, a stall selling WWII uniforms etc. etc.

A number of other individuals and groups may also be present and I will post details when I have them.

The Fort has a Tea room and the village has a pub and takeaway etc. There are no chip vans.

I will be a great event and well worth a visit!

Just to let you know the IMVG is a members club, the committee have no real power we're just there to keep things ticking over. So saying we're egotists is a little rich, plus I had nothing to do with the other club and I'm the pro of the IMVG so you can't say I have any real bias. I think any discussion about boycotting is quite unreasonable when you don't really know the reasoning, which is really between the two clubs. Its not truely going to hurt those enthusiasts who do go to shows, as most go to a vast majority of the events that go on each year, so they will get to see both groups vehicles.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
