    The Death has occurred of retired B.Q.M.S. Frank Taaffe. Clancy Barracks, Dublin.

    TAAFFE (Dublin and late of Sligo) — Aug. 18, 2012. Peacefully, in the loving care of the staff of Lisheen Nursing Home, Rathcoole. Frank (late of Rialto), beloved husband of Mary; sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Sr. Molly and brother Vincent (both in the U.K.), relatives and friends.


    May He Rest in Peace

    Funeral on Tuesday, after 10am Mass in Church of Our Lady of Fatima, Rialto, to Glasnevin Cemetery. Enquiries to Brian McElroy Funeral Directors, Crumlin Village, Tel 455 9101.

            Mr Frank Taaffe joined the army in 1940 and served as an instructor in the military college for 6 years. He was posted to Depot AOC, in 1946 to Gp 2 as a Cpl and then was promoted to the rank of Sgt in Gr 2.
            In 1957 he was promoted to CQMS the appointment of Bk Accountant.
            In 1970 he returned to Group 2 until 1973 where he was promoted to BQMS in camp staff, Clancy Bks.
            On the introduction of the new rank of staff QMS, Frank was promoted to that rank and posted to Depot AOC, back to Group 2 where he remained until he retired in 1978.
