Army bomb disposal experts removed a viable improvised explosive device (IED) from Vincent St. Flat complex, Clanbrassil St last night. Following a Garda request to attend the team arrived on scene at 4.20 am.

The IED was examined on scene and no controlled explosion was carried out. The IED was removed for further examination and the all clear was given at 4.45 am. Following this examination the IED was deemed viable and will be destroyed later today. The remains of the device will be handed over to Gardai for investigation into the incident.
