Cessna Rocket

Hi guys, I was looking up pictures of the irish Cessna Rockets on the internet and came across a picture of a rocket, 206 or something like that and the picture title was. skyhawk or hawkeye, i can't remember it was one of them anyway. and that was followed by cessna 172 rocket. Can tell me what the skyhawk or hawkeye means, if anything. Cause i only know them as cessna 172 rocket and nothing else. Thanks of your help

Skyhawk is Cessna's own in-house name for the aircraft. C172 Skyhawk, C182 Skylane etc.
Rocket refers to the licence built French model built by Reims. The Rocket features an bigger engine and a constant speed prop. Both Cessna and Reims subsequently produces a version called the Hawk XP. I have never however heard of a 172 referred to as the Hawkeye.

It's so Roger Ramjet!! They also use the coolest callsign, "hawkeye" as if to suggest keeneyed, eternal vigilance instead of a migraine from the throbbing propellor....

reims rocket was the older type hawk xp the newer one. They could be refering to the squadron name Hawkeyes formerly ACOS, army co-op squadron.

Hmm, Think I know what you are on about. Hawkeyes is the sqaudron name, hence called because they help to "keep a watch" on the coastline, over events, etc. Alot of stuff to do with their role has since been outsourced to the CASA sorties and the GASU
